System engineering
From system and implementation concepts, technical project management and the development of tender specifications to commissioning support and system integration in infrastructure and rolling stock projects.
NEXTRAIL defines successful teamwork in a project as processes that seamlessly intertwine. For all technical, functional and operational aspects. With the highest level of professional expertise in all disciplines.
Wherever the future of rail is written. NEXTRAIL supports railway operators and manufacturers in the transition to the modernisation and digitisation of railways. Complex processes in which reliable and lasting effective results are achieved within tight time frames.
Â
The systems engineering expert teams at NEXTRAIL focus on constructive and cooperative collaboration as well as the perfect interdisciplinary interaction of our technology and departmental experts. This is how we provide reliable support from system design, rolling stock analyses and gathering requirements, the creation of guidelines, support for tendering processes, and taking charge of technical project management and approval processes through to roll-out with system integration, re-authorisation and commissioning. We also support you by accompanying tendering processes embedded in the technical project management.
Â
To this end, we draw up service descriptions, implementation concepts, LCC evaluations and develop tendering criteria, requirement specifications and interface descriptions. All this from a single source – so that a holistic view of technical, functional and operational aspects is always maintained and that losses due to communication are a thing of the past.
Our services in the area of system engineering:
From planning to commissioning on site, NEXTRAIL supports operators and manufacturers in the concrete realisation of new and conversion projects (e.g. Ammertalbahn construction management). The complex interplay of approval and release processes through to acceptance and re-approval is supported by the interdisciplinary interaction of our experts in all our fields of technology, from signalling technology to rolling stock.
From the conception of the content of a tender to the definition of supplier strategies to coordination with the legal department, NEXTRAIL provides support for tenders in signalling and train control technology.
Whether as a basis for tenders or processes, NEXTRAIL helps in requirements management and in the creation of guidelines. Stringent documentation and tracking of requirements is the basis for specifications and processes that find their way into specifications and guidelines. The profound operational knowledge of the experts ensures a high degree of practical relevance. In this way, NEXTRAIL helps operators directly with the implementation of requirements and guidelines. This takes into account aspects of safety management and other interdisciplinary interdependencies.
Â
Note: Funding guidelines can be an important economic factor in the financing of rolling stock projects. The experts at NEXTRAIL can support you in this area, from the offer phase to project realisation.
NEXTRAIL combines a high level of technical knowledge with many years of practical experience in the modelling of systems. To master complexity and ensure sustainable quality and consistency, our teams consistently use model-based methods. And this throughout – from the development of complex system architectures to the mapping of processes and interfaces. If desired, we can use a variety of modelling languages such as UML, SysML or even the Arcadia method with Capella. Perfectly adapted to the individual working methods in your company. For agile, collaborative and successful project work in joint teams.
Rolling stock projects require a combination of rolling stock and signalling technology expertise. Particularly in the case of existing fleets, the level of integration required must be analysed before the tender – depending on the rolling stock type, age and mission profile and by funding guideline rules. The take-off basis must be determined, especially for re-registration. NEXTRAIL’s experts will support you or take over these analyses.
