Travelling at the optimum distance with train-centric safety logic = more trains on the line

Europe's mobility challenges in the coming decades and the urgent need to improve European rail transport prompted the partners of the R2DATO consortium of FP2 to join forces and propose innovative technologies, agile methodologies and deployment strategies to address these challenges through the digitalisation and automation of the European Union's rail system.

The APS is the core component of Advanced Digital Infrastructure (ADI). The introduction of this new safety logic with ETCS enables travelling at the optimum distance (moving block). It moves away from the conventional block-centred spacing and towards a train-centred spacing. The train as a safety object takes centre stage.

Key areas of service

  • RAMS Management

  • Risk analysis

  • RAM Analysis

  • Safety case creation

  • System definition ADI and APS

  • Test case creation Moving Block Demonstrator

  • EN50126

Special features

In APS, NEXTRAIL supports the creation of the system definition, RAMS management and accompanies and advises the development process in accordance with EN50126. In addition, test cases for the moving block demonstrator are being created in parallel at European level in the R2DATO project in the Innovation Pillar.
