The Whistleblower Protection Act was introduced in the European Union (EU) to ensure the protection of individuals who report misconduct or illegal activities in companies and organisations. The aim of this law is to protect whistleblowers from possible reprisals and sanctions they may suffer because of their disclosures, while providing them with a safe and confidential channel to raise their concerns. The Whistleblower Protection Act is an important step in the fight against corruption, fraud, mismanagement and other unethical or illegal practices in companies and public organisations, as it encourages people to report these issues without fear of negative consequences.
NEXTRAIL uses the Personio tool as a reporting channel. The tool ensures confidentiality and secure two-way communication between the reporting person and the responsible person without ever revealing the identity of the reporting person – unless the reporting person discloses this in their own statements.
All whistleblowers have the option to contact an external reporting centre. One option is to use the whistleblowing centre of the Federal Ministry of Justice.
