LST concept for fully automatic shunting operation using the "MagRail Booster" linear drive developed by Nevomo
The company Nevomo has developed a drive based on a linear motor - the so-called MagRail Booster - and offers to replace classic locomotives on this basis, e.g. for shunting operations. The aim is to use this innovative drive to partially or fully automate shunting processes. In a first use case, an LST concept is needed that fulfils the requirements of automation and the requirements of Nevomo.
NEXTRAIL set up this LST concept along phases 1 to 3 of the V-model and subjected it to a risk analysis. For this purpose, the system definition, the architecture and a modular system were developed. The system construction kit was filled on the basis of a market study. On this basis, the further phases of the V-model can now be run through in order to realise the use case.

Special features
In this project, an LST concept for fully automatic shunting operation was created. In contrast to the use of conventional shunting locomotives, however, the linear drive developed by Nevomo, the so-called MagRail Booster, was used.
In this project, NEXTRAIL worked on phases 1 to 3 of the V-model to generate an LST concept that met Nevomo's use case and technical requirements. In addition to the conceptual work, the focus was on a risk analysis.
