NEXTRAIL accompanies the innovative approaches identified by ÖBB to reduce costs on regional rail routes
ÖBB has set itself the goal of making regional rail routes more attractive through lower operating costs. A significant contribution to reducing costs should come from the use of new, innovative and more cost-effective technology.
NEXTRAIL has accompanied this project from the beginning and the Railway Strategy and Consulting (RSC) department is also active in this project. RSC advises on strategic and technical issues. In concrete terms, this means that the consultants from the RSC department look at the existing strategic projects, evaluate them and, if necessary, identify further potential. The focus here is on the signalling, command and control with a focus on the strategic rollout of DSTW and ETCS L2oS, but also the technical conception such as an EKSA activation (railway crossing safety system) via ETCS.
